Katie and Audrey

Although I have known their mom and grandparents for almost my whole life, I had not met these wonderful girls until the day of this shoot.  And then in rained.  And rained.  And rained.  But luckily, I have matching rainboots and umbrellas in my arsenal, and also luckily, the weather warmed up enough for us to go out and explore the neighborhood in the drizzle.  The girls were troopers about it since they are explorers at heart, and it was so much fun to follow them around!  The weather did not faze them (or their mom) at all. Then we went over to First Pres to get some family portraits.

I can tell you, these girls (not surprisingly) are little scientists in the making, like their grandfather.  There is so much going on behind their eyes… it was a pleasure to take their pictures.

My son was watching me work on some of their pictures yesterday, and was specifically interested in the first one I’ll post here.  Much later, when I was tucking him into bed, he asked me if I could print out a picture for him.  I figured he would say he wanted one of his birthday party or a Christmas picture, but instead he said he wanted “That picture of the girls with the umbrellas where one of them is standing on a wall”.  I was really surprised because he has never before shown any interest in pictures that don’t include people he knows.  When I asked him why he wanted that picture, he said, “Because those girls are sooooo beautiful!”  Ah well, how time flies.  I guess I now have a boy who is 7 going on 13…

So enjoy these rainy day pictures!

Carrie, These are wonderful. You were right about the soft light on a rainy day and your comments make me swell with pride. Thank you – I can see that our difficulty will be choosing and not going over the top.

Lara

I am so amazed! Those are my girls and you totally captured them…. And you did not need a net. I can’t wait to show them off!
