Website galleries updated - finally!

December 20th, 2008

I am so excited to announce that I have updated my website galleries with all new pictures!  Come on over to www.carrieprewitt.com and check them out!  I have been meaning to do this update for many months and finally decided to just get it done during my Christmas break.  I know my clients have a tough time choosing which pictures to buy, but believe me, it is much harder for me to pick the best of the best of ALL my zillions of pictures from zillions of sessions.  It was a big job but I am so glad to have it done!

And for all of you out there who have your “favorite” pictures from my original galleries - don’t worry, they have not disappeared.  I just put the new pictures first and left the old pictures there.  It has been a revelation to me that people have become attached to certain pictures, but it happens a lot.  Every time I mention to anyone that I’m working on a gallery update, they say things like, “Oh, please don’t take out that picture of the girl in a tutu or the girl on the steps or the boy on the chair or the kids by the gate…”.  I had no idea these images were resonating with people so much.  I even had one person on a photography forum write, “You can update it if you want to, but I swear I will never visit your site again if you take off that picture of the girl in the tutu by the house with the little boy running away.”  I guess I should name the pictures to make it easier for people.  For instance, I could call that popular image “Girl in Tutu by House with Little Boy Running Away.”  What do you think?

Here are a couple of screenshots from my new galleries (this is to tempt you to go over and look at them):

So OK people, just face the fact that I have taken about one zillion pictures since I first launched this site, and the new ones are at least as good, if not better, than “Girl in Tutu by House with Little Boy Running Away”.

I guess it’s like when your parents get new furniture.  Even though you know they have needed a new couch for ten years, you were still sort of attached to the old one, even though the springs were broken and there is still a Kool-Aid stain (sorry Mom) on the underside of one of the cushions so it can never be flipped over.

I look forward to a bright new year, with bright new faces and wonderful new friends.  And zillions more pictures.

PUBLISHED!

June 7th, 2008

I was ecstatic, over-the-moon, and downright shocked yesterday when I opened my July issue of Shutterbug Magazine, and a portrait of my son I submitted over six months ago was in it! Page 12, to be exact. Here is the portrait, which you will recognize from the opening flash slideshow on my website:

Shutterbug Magazine, which has an international circulation, is the number one information and buying source for serious photographers today.  It is available at all major newsstands and also online at www.shutterbug.com.  As of now, the July issue is not available online because it is still, well, June…

Each issue contains a column called “Picture This”, to which hundreds of photographers from around the world submit photographs on a given theme. Only ten portraits were selected for the July issue. The theme for July is “Personal Portraits”, for which submittals were to be of the photographer’s own family members, showing the true personality of the subject. I submitted William’s portrait, taken at the N.C. & St. L. Depot downtown, because to me it really does illustrate his true spirit. Plus I love his red boots. I’m going to be so so sad when he decides he’s too old to wear red rainboots anymore. Just like last night when he announced to my husband and me: “Guys [yes, these are his exact words], I know who REALLY brings the tooth fairy money. It’s YA’LL!” To which I said, “Well, is the tooth fairy real to you?” and my husband said, “You’d better not let Santa Claus hear you say that…” and then he looked really concerned. And he still put the tooth (which was sadly lost in a bizarre slip-and-slide accident at his very first playdate at a new friend’s house) under his pillow.  But I digress…

The portrait is currently hanging in my display at the Medina Boutique, and also in the less public “Over William’s Bed Display”.

William is now telling everybody that he’s famous because he is in a magazine.  I hope I have not inadvertantly created a monster…

Come July 1st, I will be at Books-a-Million, Walmart, and Walgreens buying up every available copy of Shutterbug Magazine. So if you want one too you’d better get there early.

My new display is up!

April 2nd, 2008

I now have a new display up at the Medina Boutique! If you haven’t visited the Boutique already, make the short trip over to see all Laurie’s adorable spring clothes for kids. She has the CUTEST birthday boy and girl shirts with appliquéd cupcakes and candles on them, adorable polka-dotted dresses (I am such a sucker for polka-dots), and all sorts of cool accessories. There is even a play area for the kids so you can shop in peace. And while you’re there you can pick up one of my brochures - make sure to take advantage of the $50 print credit coupon on the back when you book your session. Then go have lunch down the block at the Medina Cafe - great food, as I can personally attest. Although I shouldn’t have had that piece of pie. I’m still feeling guilty about the piece of pie. But oh, it was so good. Maybe I should have brought a piece home for a midnight snack my husband. Well, I do need to go back there next week anyway to eat more pie bring some more brochures to the Boutique, so I can get myself my husband another piece of pie then. OK, that settles it - you people need to go get my brochures so I can have an excuse to go back to Medina.
