Madeline and Preston

I have taken pictures of Madeline and Preston for several years, and I was so glad to see them this summer… they have grown so much! It was a nice day for a session, although it did get more and more humid as the morning progressed, and they were such troopers to bear with me until the end of the session. In the past I have done very photojournalistic images of Madeline and Preston, but for this session we decided to do more traditional images mixed in with some artistic black and white images. First Presbyterian Church is the perfect place for that!

Family portraits

Occasionally I have the pleasure of taking an extended family portrait. This occasion was in honor of Ms. Norma’s birthday, and her family came from far and wide to celebrate with her. Today is her actual birthday, and what better way to celebrate than to view her family portraits? She is such a gracious, beautiful, and interesting woman and her family is equally so. I know she is proud!

And my favorite from this session ;)… Little Lorelei was officially DONE and was desperately trying to get away! Notice how perfect everyone else looks, even baby Bella. I love it!

Happy Birthday Ms. Norma! I hope you have a wonderful day.

Jack, growing up!!!

I have photographed Jack since he was a tiny baby, and I can’t believe how much he has grown. He is just the most handsome little fellow ever - those dark, dark eyes are gonna give the girls fits someday! I always enjoy following little ones around as they explore their world. It is endlessly fascinating to see what draws their attention. In Jack’s case, what caught his eye were steps, water, gates, more steps, cats, chairs, and his juice cup! What a lovely day we had for a shoot in his grandmother’s neighborhood. So here is Jack, loved beyond measure by his sweet, sweet family!

You may wonder what Jack was looking at so intently in the previous picture… he was looking at the neighbor’s cat in the drain pipe!

Dylan

I had so much fun doing this shoot with almost one-year old Dylan. His mom had the cutest little outfits for him to wear! Dylan’s most favorite activities are laughing a lot, crawling away really fast, and grabbing his Daddy’s glasses. We did this shoot at the Experiment Station, and it was a perfect day for pictures - just enough cloud cover to keep it from being too bright, although it was still a really hot morning!

Baby Ryan

Baby Ryan was so anxious to meet his sweet parents that he came early! Very early, while his parents were visiting relatives out of town. Babies certainly work on their own schedules, don’t they? But he is healthy and happy, and so very loved, as is obvious from these images. We did the shoot at baby Ryan’s home… a baby’s own home is the best place to do a newborn photo session. It is comfortable and convenient for everyone, especially for Mom.

Here are some pointers for newborn shoots, whether you are a pro photographer or just a mom taking pictures of your own child: make your house really warm (cold naked babies are not happy babies!) and have plenty of changes of clothing for both you and the baby. Make sure the baby has just been fully fed so that he will be really sleepy. We want a sleepy baby so that we can get those “curled-up” shots! And most important of all, be patient - newborn shoots can take anywhere from 2-3 hours.

So here is beautiful baby Ryan, who is the apple of his parents’ eyes.

Little Pat, 6 months

I am catching up my blog - the next few entries will be from sessions over the last few weeks. Little Pat was so cute as a newborn, and now he is even more adorable, if that is even possible! We did this shoot at the Experiment Station, a great place for summer pictures.

Little Pat has such loving, attentive parents. Of course, who couldn’t love this little angel?

Next up: newborn baby Ryan!

new blog construction

Those of you who visit my blog regularly might have been confused this week when the blog disappeared! I have been working on a brand new blog (release date in the near future) and had some difficulty with my server.

I am very behind blogging sneak-peeks as well - clients from the last few weeks have been caught in the middle of the blog redo. I will get some pics up this week though for everyone to see.

I have been so busy this summer but am enjoying taking so many pictures of beautiful kids and their families.

Nicholas and Grace

This was one of those amazing sessions where everything was perfect and I practically ran home to download the pictures off my card. We did the shoot in the fabulous yard of the kids’ grandmother, and the light was just wonderful, mostly because we were shooting in between little rain showers. Everything was so green and lush! The kids’ mom brought a ton of clothes for me to pick from, which I always love. And I was so excited when I was asked to create a “flower fairy” portrait of Grace! She loves flower fairies and so do I - my own daughter has flower fairy stencils in her room.

Nicholas and Grace are so adorable and we had lots of fun just wandering around. They play together beautifully and went along with all my silly games. And in the end, we didn’t even get rained on!

Callum, Catey Beth, and Connor

Connor is growing up so fast! It seems like just yesterday when I took pictures of him as a newborn, and here he is, already 7 months old! Callum and Catey Beth are adorable too, and we all had a lot of fun on a slightly chilly and very windy shoot at the Experiment Station. Catey Beth brought her doll carriage, Callum brought his scooter, and Connor had a bowl to sit in, so everyone was happy.

Baby Graham - 7 months old

I can’t believe how fast baby Graham is growing up! He is THE happiest baby ever. We did this shoot at the Experiment Station, one of my favorite spots for spring and summer pictures. And what a gorgeous day it was. Perfect weather, beautiful morning light, and cherry trees in full bloom.
