For as long as I can remember, I have been happily immersed in the arts. In my mind's eye, I can still see every page of the Childcraft poetry book which my mother always read to me when I was a small child. Beautiful words and pictures were my first inspirations. Music has been intrinsic in my life ever since I began picking out songs on the piano at the age of three. I am passionate about singing and teaching, and was a college voice professor for seventeen years. My love of visual art and photography was a natural progression from the worlds of written and performing arts, and I opened my photography business in 2007. I am a full-time photographer specializing in children's fine art portraiture. I also photograph seniors and weddings with the same intimate style, and create art images for exhibition.

"The portraits you took of my girls playing in the woods are somehow so real and yet so ethereal all at the same time. How in the world do you do that? When I look at the pictures, I long to be dropped right back in to that day. The love our girls have for each other was so evident that I could almost touch it through the canvas."          ~April H.

I want my portraits to help you remember the sweet smell of your baby’s head, the warmth of the sun on your toddler’s face, the intensity and quirkiness of your grade-schooler, or the expressiveness of your graduating senior. I want you to have wedding pictures that beautifully tell the story of your sweetest day. The pictures we treasure are those which give an honest glimpse into the souls of the people we hold dear. When life seems so fragile, when the world seems too scary, when we realize there is too much "stuff" in our lives and not enough substance, when the kids are late for school and spill their milk and the dog is lost and the car won't start - these are the times we pause to look at the pictures on our walls and remind ourselves of the joy with which we have been blessed.

I used to worry that I was creating a veritable shrine in my home of pictures of my children and family, until I realized that having those pictures all over the walls makes my kids feel loved, welcomed, needed, and part of something bigger than themselves: family. It is clear to anyone who walks into my house where my priorities lie. My very walls are a testimony of love. I draw strength from the images of my little ones, of myself when I was young, of my loved ones who have passed from this Earth, and tell myself that I shouldn't fret so much, because my life has been full of beauty.

Depending on the goals of each session, my portraits may be black and white or artistic color. My standard family sessions last from 1 to 1½ hours and are relaxed and fun. Your portraits will be all the more beautiful if you are comfortable, and I know that your session, in itself, will be a fondly remembered event. I can't wait to capture the beauty of your family.
